Helping Me Grow + Sympathy - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Sympathy cards are never an easy thing to make. Somehow you have to convey the depth of your love for a person and sorrow for their loss without being overbearing as they grieve. Never easy and always a little awkward.

Here are couple I made using the Helping Me Grow and A Dozen Thoughts stamp sets. I embossed the flowers in gold for something special and then washed colour over the top with an aqua painter. I added a little bit of Pool Party in the background including flecks made by flicking the brush end of the marker from the inside of the cap outwards.

The style of these cards remind me so much of my talented friend Teneale so I thought I'd give her a shout out : You can check out her beautiful work *here*.

  3. Susan, I love watercoloring and these are striking. I love what you did by going outside of the lines. Every time I try to do that I hear my Kindergarten teacher saying, "Stop it!" Seeing this makes me totally want to do it. XO

  8. What Allison said...hearts in eyeballs! I'm not good at staying in the lines so I've never really attempted watercoloring as a colouring method. Now I want to!

  9. These are perfection! They are perfectly warm and soft for sympathy cards, but the colours and blossoms are so hopeful. I just adore what you've done with these!
